The Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship (IDALS) incentivizes landowners in tile-drained Iowa regions to adopt best management practices voluntarily, encouraging a more sustainable approach to water quality. IDALS, along with a private landowner, sought technical assistance to install a bioreactor to mitigate nitrate loss and improve water quality within 224 affected acres in Pocahontas County. ISG designed and oversaw the construction of the bioreactor on Lovin Farms.
