High Trestle Trail Experience Park

When the City of Ankeny had a goal to develop a bicycle tourism destination for High Trestle Trail travelers, they partnered with ISG to transform a section of trail in a historic uptown neighborhood into an untraditional park. We designed the linear urban oasis to detour off the main trail—a 25-mile Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation rails to trails project—with interactive features like public art prairie animals, a glow-in-the-dark trail, nature-based play exploration areas, and a rolling trail stroller-coaster. This unforgettable park experience offers inclusive recreational opportunities and celebrates the success of the iconic High Trestle Trail.
