March 14, 2023 (Mankato, Minnesota) – ISG will host the inaugural Future of Southern Minnesota Lakes Conference on April 22, 2023, in Mankato, Minnesota. The conference will equip community members, lake associations, and lake stewards with the tools, approaches, and resources to care for the lakes of Southern Minnesota.
The conference will provide insight into the various components of lake health, the adaptive lake management process, lake restoration and monitoring opportunities, and the resources available to improve lake health while addressing the challenges brought by the pollutants that contaminate lakes. Speakers will present on topics such as assessing lakes, implementing management projects, and management planning.
“Our lakes serve a vital role in our ecosystem and lifestyle,” said Julie Blackburn, environmental practice group leader at ISG. “They bring economic, recreational, and public health benefits while supporting the environment as a whole. We ask a lot of our lakes, so it’s imperative that we are good stewards of these important resources.”
Speakers from state and local governments, planning agencies, environmental and water firms, Minnesota State University, Mankato, and the University of Minnesota will connect with lake association and community members to understand the importance of managing lake health in the region. The goal is to drive action in local communities.
Registration to attend the conference is open now through April 13, 2023. Details can be found on https://cvent.me/BrLw2N.
